In extended periods of dry weather we all have a responsibility to keep an eye on our personal water usage. Although there is not currently a hosepipe ban in effect, we would like you to consider carefully the amount of water you are using as the hot conditions continue.
Please use water sparingly and only when absolutely necessary to help preserve levels at the reservoir.
Things we can do to help include:
- Consider reusing water from baths, sinks and paddling pools on your gardens wherever possible and keep watering to early mornings and late evenings to ensure your gardens can absorb as much water as possible.
- Opt for a watering can instead of a hose for your plants to ensure water gets right to the roots.
- Reduce shower times.
- Maintain plumbing to avoid drips and leaks.
- Ensure your washing machine and dishwasher are full before running them.
- Keep a jug of water in the fridge to avoid running the tap for cold water.
- Avoid using sprinklers on lawns – the grass may look dry but it will come back.
- Be mindful of large washing jobs i.e. cars and other automobiles. Only wash if absolutely necessary and use a bucket and sponge in place of a hose/power-washer.
Thank you
